Child Care Resource and Referral
Point of Entry activities
|
ALPI Child Care Resource and Referral is the point of entry
for all families looking for preschool programs. Families
call CCR&R utilizing a local or toll free telephone to
request child care services. Parent Counselors educate families
on available programs in their county. An intake form is completed
to pre-qualify the child for preschool programs.
Single Point of Entry partners include Pre-K, Head Start,
and Subsidized Child Care. The single entry process has eliminated,
for the most part, duplication of service to families and
allowed additional children to be placed in care. Enrollments
are placed from the CCR&R waiting list.
The
Single Point of Entry process has been operating
successfully for almost six years. We continuously communicate
with the partners on various issues to improve the process
as we go along. The system has made the process of applying
for public funded programs "family friendly". Families
can get the information they need all in one telephone call.
The program handled more than 7,500 single entry phone calls
per year. The
single entry system has helped to increase the awareness of
the program in the community, and in turn, has increased awareness
of the importance of quality child care.
ALPI-CCRR
is part of the statewide Child Care Resource and Referral
Network now funded via the Early Learning Coalition of Indian
River, Martin and Okeechobee Counties, Inc. The CCR&R
is administered by the Early Learning Coalition. Local R&R's
offer free information and referral services to all families
seeking quality early care and school readiness programs and
out of school time solutions. R&R's also assist in the
recruitment, startup and support of providers and promote
quality, availability and affordability of services available
in their communities. The CCR&R Network maintains the
only comprehensive statewide database of child care, school
readiness and school age programs and service providers.
